Frequently asked questions

The feature Cockpit

What does the “My Week” feature show?

Once you are enrolled in your selected class(es), at the start of the semester, the “My Week” feature will provide you with daily information about your class dates as well as information about any examinations you have signed up for. Each date displays information (either directly in the date or as a link to the Moodle learning platform) in regard to location, contact persons, times, and corresponding documents.

How do I see my semester progress?

We aim to provide a higher degree of transparency to your studies by displaying student progress during the semester. In the future, we intend to provide students with more detailed information. For now, however, the semester progress feature shows how many semester weeks the student has completed. This number may vary slightly per semester.

Messages and Push Notifications

University Courses and exams

How do I access course materials?

There are two ways to view and access course materials. You can access “My Week” in the cockpit and click "Switch to Moodle" in the upcoming course. Under the menu item "Courses", you can click on a course to access detailed course information. You will find a link to Moodle (Icon "M") embedded in the upper middle part of the page. Under the tab "Documents", you will also find all of the saved materials that are in KUSSS.

What exactly does “Info for Courses” mean?

This field provides information as to whether or not you are required to register for an examination (P) and/or if participant evaluation (E) can be viewed.

When will my examinations be displayed in the “Examination” module?

The Office of Teaching and Examinations intends to provide the base data for examinations. Once the requirements are met, course examinations will be displayed in the “Examination” module.

Attendance registration

How do I use the mobile attendance registration?

Beginning in March, students at the Faculty of Medicine can use the myJKU app to confirm course attendance. To do so, point your smartphone’s camera at a QR code provided by the course instructor. This will direct you to myJKU. After logging into your JKU account by using your personal password, your attendance will either be confirmed in the myJKUapp, or you will be informed that

- you have already attended

- no suitable date was found

- the QR code is too old.

What do I do if it doesn’t work?

First, please check whether you are at the right course, pay attention to the room also. You can only register if you are already assigned to the course. In the event of a transmission error or if the QR code is too old try again. As an alternative option, the registration at MCI on-site in the class roomis also possible via JKU Card.

If it doesn’t work, contact the Center for Medical Education team by sending an e-mail to: cardea.zml@jku.at. To better assist in addressing the issue, please include a description of the problem in your e-mail and include screenshot/photo and the course details.

When on-site, get confirmation of your attendance in class by providing the course instructor’s signature and uploading it to the Cardea system at: https://www.cardea.jku.at.The system provides an overview of successfully registered dates. You can access the information at any time.

Miscellaneous

When should I use myJKU and when should I use KUSSS?

Both applications basically reference the same information. If, for example, you would like to make any changes to the initial information you provided, such as allocating a course according to your major number, or you want to update your e-mail address, etc., then use KUSSS.

KUSSS is also ideal when registering or dropping/withdrawing from courses and examinations.

myJKU provides students with information during the semester, such as quick access to course information, grades, exams, personalized documents, and quick links to use other homepages and applications. myJKU was created with a more interactive design, meaning that the app is more user-friendly for smartphones and tablets.

How do I sign up to get myJKU?

Sign up at: https://my.jku.at and use the information for your JKU account (corresponds to KUSSS and Moodle).

I forgot my password. Now what do I do?

See: JKU Account for instructions on how to reset your JKU password.

What is the review process in myJKU to make sure I meet the prerequisites for each course?

  •     The number times you took an examination

  •     The extent to which you have completed the Studies Introduction and Orientation Phase (StEOP) requirements

  •     The period during which an examination can be repeated in order to improve a grade

  •     The registration status for a degree program when taking an examination

  •     The media materials acquisition status (for students in the Multi-Media Law program)

Where do I see just how many semesters I studied for each section of study?

Your Studies Record Sheet (=Studienblatt) lists all registered semesters for each degree program you are enrolled in.
