Moodle Courses
How long can I access a Moodle course?
Most Moodle courses are only available for one semester. Please remember, at the end of the semester, to back up your course materials on your PC!
How can I view my current courses in the left column?
After Login click on "Customise this page" on the top right.
On the left down corner choose "Course overview" under "Add a block".
You will find there all your current courses as in the course overview under "In progress".
What should I do if a course is incorrectly listed in the course overview?
According to the course start and finish dates as stated in the Moodle course settings, the course will be listed under “In progress”, “Future” or “Past”. If the classification is incorrect, please contact the course instructor or the corresponding institute.
How can I "remove" Moodle courses from my course overview?
Click on the symbol 
next to the course and choose "Remove from view".
I see a Moodle icon 
in KUSSS but can not find the corresponding Moodle course?
Course instructors have the option to hide courses from students. This means that on one hand, the course is probably still being prepared before being accessible online, or the course is no longer available.
If you have questions about the availability of your course, please contact the course instructor or the corresponding institute.
How can I enroll in a Moodle course?
KUSSS automatically allocates enrollment in a course's Moodle course.
If it is a Moodle course that does not have a corresponding course in KUSSS, clicking on the course you wish to enroll in and you will be asked to enter an Enrolment key. You can obtain this code from your teacher or the responsible institution. Enter the code once you will be officially enrolled and will have access to the materials.
How can I withdraw from a Moodle course?
If you withdraw from a course in KUSSS (or you are dropped from the course), access to the Moodle course will be automatically deactivated.
How do I see if there is anything new in a course?
Check under "Recent Activity" to see what materials have been added.
How do I find courses in Moodle?
KUSSS automatically allocates enrollment in a course's Moodle course. In KUSSS, next to the course in the "Extras" column, click on the Moodle icon to go directly to the Moodle course. After successful login, you can access the corresponding Moodle course in Moodle. The prerequisite is that the Moodle course be released for students by the instructor.
If it is a Moodle course without a corresponding course in KUSSS, search for the Moodle course title under "Quicklinks" and "Search courses". You will see a list of available courses and you can make your selection.
How can I see if there is a Moodle course in the JKU Moodle system for my course?
In KUSSS, select "Study Room" under "My Courses". You will see a Moodle icon in the "Extras" column. Click on the icon to log in to the course's JKU Moodle class. If there is no icon, there is no Moodle class in the JKU Moodle system.
If you see a Moodle icon but are unable to access the corresponding class, it means the Moodle class is to students. In this case, please contact the course instructor or the corresponding institute to find out when access is possible.
I do not see any courses in Moodle, but I am already assigned to it in KUSSS.
- Please make sure that you have logged in with your JKU Account beginning with "k" (as in KUSSS) and not with the JKU Account you used for data collection (starting with "v").
In Moodle, a single sign-on solution is used for the login, which is why there is no classic logout button. To log in again, please close the browser completely and open it again. You can also use a private window. - Furthermore, it is possible that the Moodle course is not yet available to the students (see: How can I see if there is a Moodle course in the JKU Moodle system for my course?)
When will the media libraries be switched to the new semester? (Information for MMJUS students)
The media libraries will be switched automatically at the beginning of the semester. For questions about stream availabilities, please contact institut@linzer.rechtsstudien.at, DW 1900.
How can I upload a document for a free text question in a quiz?
Click on "Attempt quiz now".
The exam information is linked in the description of the question (1).
- Open the exam information with a right click on the link "Klausurangabe" > "Open link in new tab" or "Open link in new window". (If you open the exam information by clicking on "Klausurangabe", it will appear in the same browser window and tab and you will have to go back one step in the browser to get back to the quiz).
- The file to be submitted can be dragged and uploaded by file selection (2) or by Drag & Drop (3) into the field provided
- Click on (2) to open a new window:
- Here you select a file under (1) with the file selection you are used to from the operating system and upload it by clicking on (2) "Upload this file".
- After uploading your response file, click on "Finish attempt...".
- Then you have to confirm the upload of the file twice more by clicking on "Submit all and finish".
Depending on the test settings, the test is finally handed in after the second click on "Submit all and finish"! Afterwards no further changes are possible.
By clicking on "Finish review" you will get to the following final view. Click on "Review" to return to the above view.
